Licensed Teacher - Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY

The Licensed Teacher works with young children and their families with developmental disabilities in classroom settings. This individual must have a genuine interest in working with children and their families.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES):

• Develops and implements effective treatment plans in coordination with other team members.
• Develops individual plans with the family.
• Works with the transdisciplinary team to achieve the educational and developmental goals of the child.
• Maintains records as required.
• Conducts developmental assessments.
• Completes required task in a timely manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds in person.
• Ability to determine and identify items and children in the periphery, near, and far visual fields.

QUALIFICATIONS:                                                                                           

• Bachelor’s degree in education required.
• Certification in Elementary Education required, which may include ECH, ECD, ECSE or ECU certifications.
• Prior experience working with children with special needs preferred.

• Works effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to work effectively with parents, children, public, and other professionals.
• Ability to perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined below.

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

WORK PACE: Self-paced, requiring the ability to think and act quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.    

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates homes, and community settings as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

May require frequent extended work days.

Sitting:          6 - 7 hours in an 8 hour work shift; may occasionally alternate to standing or walking.

Standing:      1 - 2 hours in an 8 hour work shift.  Alternates to sitting on a frequent basis

Walking:       1/2 - 1 hour in an 8 hour work shift.
