Laborer Apprentice - Civil Construction

Our Heavy Civil Division is seeking several candidates for our Laborer Apprenticeship Program. Qualified candidates will have starting wages earning $20/hr plus fringe benefits, and will increase to $30/hr or higher, plus fringe benefits at graduation.

The ideal Laborer Apprentice candidate will be mechanically inclined, enjoy learning a new trade while working outdoors, and have a strong work ethic.

As a Laborer Apprentice you are enrolled in our Department of Labor registered training program through our partnership with the Associated Builders and Contractors of Mid America. You will train under our capable and experienced journeyman workers both on the job and in the classroom. Our certified training program allows you to master a broad range of skills in construction to include concrete work, masonry work, jobsite safety and more. You will develop a knowledge of everything from tools, rigging, and heavy equipment operation to building materials, site layouts, and construction drawings so you are prepared for your new career path.
The program consist of 4,000 hours of on the job training and 144 classroom hours, which will occur over a 30 to 36 month period depending on the number of hours worked. As you progress through the program, your wage rate will increase and at the end of the program, you will graduate as a Department of Labor Certified Journeyman Laborer and be eligible for full journeyman wages!

For consideration, all candidates must have:

• Able to submit a copy of your high school diploma or GED
• Able to work well with others in a team environment
• Able to listen to direction and be productive
• Able to have regular, reliable and prompt attendance
• Able to operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner at all times
• Able to traverse uneven walking/working surfaces at jobsites
• Able to work in all weather conditions
• Able to have sufficient means to arrive on time and start shift as scheduled
• Able to wear all required personal protective equipment as necessary
• Able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
