SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting formulators in the making of laboratory scale formulas and requesting, reviewing, and maintaining information pertaining to the raw materials utilized in the development and production of personal care products. They will be working closely with the R&D group to support project timelines, with outside suppliers to ensure documentation requests are completed and liaising with multiple departments within Raining Rose including R&D, Sales, Purchasing/Sourcing and Quality/Regulatory to receive and respond to requests for documents pertaining to raw materials. The individual will also be responsible for ensuring that information relating to raw materials is complete and accurate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)
- Follow instructions developed by formulators to make laboratory scale samples for R&D projects.
- Record observations while compounding ingredients and update formulators on outcomes.
- Conduct basic laboratory tests on completed formulations, recording results.
- Fill product in sample components and label samples with appropriate information.
- Receive and organize raw material samples and associated documentation by establishing X numbers, labeling samples and adding them into the R&D inventory system.
- Establish relationships with raw material suppliers to ensure timely receipt of documentation to meet internal requirements, customer request and regulatory guidelines.
- Act as point person for document requests and oversee automated requests for documentation.
- Review documents received to ensure compliance with required needs.
- Coordinate and prepare documents intended for customer submission according to set standards in a timely fashion being flexible and attentive to deadlines escalating information as necessary.
- Confirm complete and accurate information is entered into required systems including ERP systems and formulation software.
- Maintain and update a robust file sharing system housing all necessary documents, including SDS for all on-site materials according to OSHA guidelines.
- Point person on executing the details related to extending expired products by working with supplier on alternative solutions.
- Help maintain annual certificates materials qualifying under certifying programs including Organic, RSPO, and Halal status.
- Update supervisor on current workload and report progress on projects.
- Potential travel to relevant conferences, attend vendor Lunch & Learns, and join online webinars to stay current with industry innovation and changes to regulations.
- Firm understanding and compliance with company’s Good Manufacturing Practices and Safe Practices.

Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Familiar with basic laboratory equipment including: scales, balances, mixers, hotplates, pH meters, viscometers.

- Ability to work effectively across departmental teams
- Maintain professional technical knowledge
- Intermediate level computer literacy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Products and ability to learn new systems quickly
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Laboratory (or related) Experience required
- Knowledge of spreadsheets and ability to create reports required
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field is preferred
- Technical writing experience preferred
- Knowledge of GMP’s, OSHA rules and regulations preferred
