Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and fun Pottery Instructor to lead our beginner pottery workshops. The ideal candidate will not only have a solid understanding of basic pottery techniques but also a chill, easy going personality that will create a fun atmosphere for adults as they participate in the workshop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead beginner-level pottery workshops, demonstrating basic techniques such as handbuilding, wheel throwing, and glazing.
- Provide step-by-step instruction and hands-on assistance to participants, ensuring a positive and educational experience.
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for all participants, encouraging creativity, collaboration, and exploration.
- Ensure all materials and tools are prepared for each session, including clay, pottery wheels, and glazing supplies.
- Offer individualized guidance and troubleshooting for students based on their progress.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace during and after each workshop.
- Monitor the progress of student work, offering constructive feedback and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience teaching or assisting in pottery workshops or classes, particularly for beginners.
- Proficiency in basic pottery techniques, including handbuilding, wheel throwing, and glazing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work with diverse groups.
- A positive, encouraging, and patient attitude to ensure students feel confident and supported.
- Knowledge of pottery safety guidelines and equipment maintenance.
