About the Job :
Our client, a famed player in the Food and Beverage manufacturing space is seeking a full-time Ammonia Refrigeration Maintenance Technician for their Ice Cream production plant in Norwood. As part of the UDF Maintenance team, you will support company-wide operations by performing a wide range of duties, including installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining facility and processing equipment. Your role is crucial in ensuring that equipment and systems deliver at expected efficiency.
Duties & Responsibilities :
Visually inspect, test, and clean machinery and equipment.
Detect malfunctions, troubleshoot, diagnose problems, and perform repairs to ensure high reliability.
Disassemble defective machinery and equipment, and install new or repaired parts.
Perform regular and preventive maintenance, repairs, improvements, and related project work on production equipment, facility, and utility systems in accordance with maintenance standards.
Work in conjunction with maintenance manager / supervisor, team members, operations, and sanitation supervisors to identify and correct safety or equipment issues.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Willingness to work off shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and in emergency situations.
Mechanically inclined with knowledge of machine shop tools and food safety regulations.
Self-motivated, quick learner with a positive attitude, skilled in problem-solving and fixing things.
Ability to interpret schematic drawings, PLC control programs, hardware relay logic diagrams, and pneumatic loops.
Knowledge of basic electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, welding, fabrication, and food processing equipment function and maintenance.
Understanding of SOPs (Standard Operation Procedures) for the maintenance department and ability to follow them.
Capable of following written and verbal instructions to perform assigned maintenance tasks.
Minimum Qualifications :
High School Diploma or Trade school study in Machinery, Industrial Machinery Mechanics, HVAC Mechanics, Ammonia, Glycol, etc. preferred.
5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
Ammonia Refrigeration experience.
3 years’ experience in electrical and welding (Not essential, can be discussed in place of).
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Stellar Qualifications (Preferred, Not Necessary) – Maintenance Tech II :
Verified knowledge of maintaining and operating industrial refrigeration systems “Certification”.
Conducting daily rounds to observe and record temperatures.
Performing predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems, including compressors, pumps, fans, heat exchangers, glycol systems, motors, and power distribution systems “Certification”.
Handling or training entry-level refrigeration technicians, including day-to-day operations, inspections, basic repairs, and conformance to regulations and policies.
Participating in improvement activities to enhance systems by prioritizing work and minimizing downtime to HVAC and refrigeration systems.
