Organization Description
RAISE28 exists to reach local youth with the life changing gospel of Jesus Christ. Located in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, the center and its staff seek to encourage, develop, and equip our youth to experience the love of God. We do this by forging healthy relationships, praying, teaching God’s Word, and offering supervised recreation. This is all accomplished through the partnerships of local churches, volunteer organizations, businesses and individuals.
Job Summary
The Guitar Instructor will be responsible to provide 30-minute guitar lessons to children and youth on designated days of the week. The lessons will take place in the music room at RAISE28. The Guitar Instructor will work with the Student Ministries Coordinator (SMC) to schedule the lessons based on room availability.
Primary Responsibilities and Commitments
- Schedule lessons with Student Ministries Coordinator
- Arrive for lessons at lease 10 minutes prior to the first student’s lesson time
- Provide positive and encouraging instruction with each student
- Purchase lesson books and establish weekly lesson plans for each student based upon experience, ability and progress
- Communicate with parent(s) and student on progress made and assigned practice
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Competencies
- Strong verbal communication skills and experience working with children and/or youth
- Demonstrated proficiency and skill playing a guitar and other string instruments
- Proficient knowledge of music theory, including chords and finger charts
- Experience as a guitar instructor
Qualifications
- Fully embrace the mission, vision, and values of RAISE28
- High school diploma
- A music teaching certificate and/or degree preferred
- References from past students and/or parents
- Warm personality with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work well under limited supervision.
- Self-motivated and adaptable; well organized to select priorities and handle multiple tasks
Compensation
Music Instructors are paid $25 for each half hour lesson.
