Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician
Location: Taylor St. Gunnison, CO 81230
Duration: 13 weeks contract
Shift: 4 Ten-hour NIGHT shifts per week (Sunday - Wednesday 2130 -0730)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours
Pay Details:
For Local Candidates pay rate: $50 to $55/hr (If your permanent address is within 50 miles from the facility)
For Travelers/Stipend Candidates (If your permanent address is outside the 50 mile radius from the facility):
Blended Hourly W2 Pay Rate: $53.00
Blended Weekly Gross Pay Rate: $1,908.00
Minimum Hourly W2 Pay Rate: $15.00
Min. W2 Weekly Gross (Taxable): $540.00
Weekly Stipend (Non-Taxable): $1,908.00
OR
For Traveler 1099 Candidates:
Pay Rate on 1099 to the Candidate: $58.00
Weekly 1099 Traveler Pay Rate: $2,320.00
Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) to join our team on the night shift in Gunnison Valley, CO. As a generalist, you will perform a variety of laboratory tests, contribute to patient care, and help us maintain the highest quality standards in medical testing. This is a 13-week temporary assignment with the potential for longer-term opportunities.
Key Benefits:
- Housing Reimbursement: Up to $600/month for housing expenses after completing the assignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a range of laboratory tests, including blood bank, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and microbiology.
- Test and report results within turnaround time standards, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Report stat results within 30-60 minutes.
- Manage specimen collection (e.g., venipuncture, blood gases, throat swabs, and other special collections).
- Prioritize tasks appropriately and communicate specimen or testing problems quickly and effectively.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating competency in routine and special collection techniques.
- Resolve issues related to testing, and provide technical assistance when needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Completion of an accredited Medical Technology Program (CLSI-approved) OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a 12-month internship in a medical technology school.
- Experience: Must have completed an internship in an accredited Medical Technology school.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- ASCP Board Certification or equivalent.
- Must be qualified through the Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW) accreditation program, or meet similar qualifications.
- Knowledge in blood bank, special chemistry, hematology, coagulation, serology, phlebotomy, and microbiology.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform tests efficiently under pressure.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and demonstrate excellent judgment.
- Proficient in routine and special collection techniques (including blood gases, blood cultures, timed specimens, etc.).
- Strong communication skills to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
