Duration: 13 weeks contract
Shift: Nights, 3x12
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours
Pay Details:
For Local Candidates pay rate: $48 to $52/hr (If your permanent address is within 50 miles from the facility)
For Travelers/Stipend Candidates (If your permanent address is outside the 50 mile radius from the facility):
Blended Hourly W2 Pay Rate: $50.00
Blended Weekly Gross Pay Rate: $1,800.00
Minimum Hourly W2 Pay Rate: $15.39
Min. W2 Weekly Gross (Taxable): $554.04
Weekly Stipend (Non-Taxable): $1,245.96
OR
For Traveler 1099 Candidates:
Pay Rate on 1099 to the Candidate: $52.00
Weekly 1099 Traveler Pay Rate: $1,872.00
Job Summary:
A critical access hospital in Lincoln, Maine is seeking a qualified Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for a 13-week assignment. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive and dynamic team in a healthcare environment that values proficiency and patient care.
Schedule & Shifts:
- Shifts: 3-12 hour shifts per week (after 1st week of training)
- Weekend Rotation: Usually every 5th weekend
- No On-Call: Fill in Thursday night shift and pick up vacancies if not filled by regular staff.
- Holidays: Will work holidays as needed (rotating schedule).
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tests and provide accurate results in microbiology, blood bank, and other areas of medical laboratory testing.
- Microbiology experience preferred, but at a minimum, must be proficient in gram stains, planting cultures, and blood cultures.
- Perform phlebotomy duties with proficiency.
- Conduct Blood Bank testing and ensure compliance with protocols.
- Adhere to Covid-19 regulations, including proper PPE usage and working in isolation rooms.
- Prioritize and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Work independently, handling tasks with minimal supervision.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, patients, and other medical staff.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduation from an approved MT or MLT program.
- Experience: Strong experience in clinical laboratory settings; proficiency in microbiology, blood bank testing, and phlebotomy.
- Certifications: Current MT or MLT certification (or eligible) through ASCP, AMT, or equivalent.
- Covid Regulations: Understanding and adherence to hospital Covid protocols and safety guidelines.
- Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and physicians.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be comfortable working independently and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays as part of the rotation.
- Must have a flexible approach and a willingness to work as needed to fill in for unfilled shifts.
