Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Chemical Dependency

Shift: Day Shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Pay Details:
For Travelers/Stipend Candidates (If your permanent address is outside the 50-mile radius from the facility):
Blended Hourly W2 Pay Rate: $63.00
Blended Weekly Gross Pay Rate: $2,628.00
Minimum Hourly W2 Pay Rate: $29.00
Min. W2 Weekly Gross (Taxable): $1,044.00
Weekly Stipend (Non-Taxable): $1,224.00

Pay Rate on 1099 to the Candidate: $65.00
Weekly 1099 Traveler Pay Rate: $2,340.00
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract in the Adult Chemical Dependency Unit in Lewiston, ME. This RN will play a crucial role in providing care to patients with substance use disorders, specifically those dealing with alcohol, opiate, benzodiazepine, barbiturate, and other drug dependencies. The RN will work primarily in the Adult Chemical Dependency Unit but will be required to float to Inpatient Adult Behavioral Health and Detox units as needed. The role involves conducting comprehensive patient assessments, developing and revising care plans, and facilitating group therapy. The RN will need to demonstrate competency in the application of restraints and seclusion as part of the Behavioral Health unit protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Deliver direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process in all assigned areas, providing a thorough assessment, care planning, and education.
- Admission Interviews & Assessments: Conduct detailed admission interviews and systematic physical assessments, identifying the needs for additional services and facilitating care coordination.
- Care Planning: Develop, implement, and revise appropriate patient care plans based on ongoing assessment and patient needs.
- Patient Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient conditions, interventions, responses to care, and education provided.
- Group Facilitation & Education: Provide patient education and facilitate therapeutic groups on topics related to chemical dependency and behavioral health.
- Coordination of Care: Collaborate with other health care professionals to deliver holistic patient care, including physicians, counselors, and social workers.
- Behavioral Health Competency: Staff must be trained and demonstrate competency in the application of restraints and seclusion, as well as in monitoring, assessing, and providing care for patients in restraint or seclusion.
- Float to Other Units: Be willing to float to Inpatient Adult Behavioral Health and Detox units, depending on patient needs.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, with at least 1-2 years in Behavioral Health or Chemical Dependency required.
- Certifications:
- BLS/BCLS (AHA) required.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) required.
- Behavioral Health Experience: Prior experience working in Behavioral Health or Chemical Dependency units is a must.
- State License: Active RN license in the state of Maine or a compact state license.
- Competency in Restraints/Seclusion: Staff must be trained and able to demonstrate competency in the application of restraints, seclusion, and monitoring patients in restraint or seclusion.
Additional Requirements:
- Permanent Address: Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to manage and provide care for patients in restraints or seclusion when necessary.
Schedule and Compensation:
- Shift Hours: Day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
- Contract Length: 13 weeks.
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week.
- Weekend Requirements: Flexible, depending on unit needs.
- On-Call/Weekend: Availability to float to other units and assist during times of high patient volume as needed.
