Job Overview
This position reports to the Commercial Lending & Business Member Relationship Manager. The Commercial Relationship Lender responsibilities include generating commercial loans and deposits by developing strong lending relationships with business owners, CPA’s, builders, developers, realtors and loan brokers. Duties will include advising members on different customized loan options, assessing financial information, and structuring loans within loan policy. Performing due diligence on the lending process from application to closing documentation. Obtain and perform review of borrowers and/or guarantors’ financial data, to include but not limited to tax returns (personal and corporate), income statements, financial statements, and business plans. This position is responsible for keeping abreast of amendments to loan policies, lending procedures, and regulations, as well as mitigating any loan policy exceptions or deficiencies, and submitting a complete loan file for underwriting review. Responsible to manage loan portfolio including renewals, modifications, updated credit analysis, collections, and portfolio monitoring.

Qualifications
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related area.
- Minimum of 5 years lending experience
- Understanding of the foundation of determining credit worthiness
- Knowledge of credit union loan policies, products, procedures, processing, and underwriting guidelines.
- Ability to analyze financial data and to complete risk rate models.
- Strong decision-making and problems solving skills. Ability to evaluate alternative solutions and make sound and effective decisions.
- Able to operate basic office equipment. Computer proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Strong interpersonal skills and able to work well with others.
Role Description and Essential Duties
- Market CU member business and commercial loan products to the local community, individuals and both large and small business owners. Generates new business through prospecting, outside calling, networking and referrals.
- Must have extensive knowledge with lending regulations, compliance, loan application process, dept service coverage, analyzing tax returns, UCA Cash Flow, financial ratios and spreading, credit presentations, annual reviews, CRE appraisals, non-real estate LTVs, and loan documentation.
- Effectively screen prospects to identify those that meet underwriting criteria and organizational mission objectives. To include preliminary credit analysis on proposed loan packets received.
- Complete initial loan application package, ensuring file is complete, accurate, and properly notated.
- Organize loan paperwork and submit file for underwriting review.
- Loan documentation, files, and related reports are complete, accurate, and timely.
- Loan applications and related financial data are closely and effectively analyzed and evaluated.
- Effectively negotiate loan terms and conditions.
- Provide information to members, both in person, over the phone, or email regarding questions and loan requests.
- Ensure all loans are originated, disclosed and/or re-directed accurately and timely within all established regulatory compliance requirements and timeframes.
- Effectively communicate to staff the status of borrower files on a regular basis and engage other team members as appropriate.
- Provide notice to the Business Lending Manager as to any loan file deficiencies, exceptions, or policy issues/concerns.
- Create and maintain reports to keep staff and management up to date at periodic loan review meetings and as needed for management reporting.
- Attends and participates in meetings as required.
- Participate in community and professional organizations and events.
- Ability to work independently, under pressure, meets deadlines and manages multiple priorities.
- Demonstrates a positive and mature image to members and credit union staff.
- Professional in appearance, attendance and quality of work.
- Good working relations exist with Credit Union personnel and management. Assistance is provided as needed. Management is appropriately informed.
- Complies with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules and regulations. Attends required annual BSA training.
- Assist with all other duties as assigned or identified.
