About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives on innovation, problem-solving, and hands-on design. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge material handling solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and see projects through from concept to production.
This role involves mechanical design, project management, and ensuring manufacturability, working closely with manufacturing, vendors, and customers to develop high-quality conveyor systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and create innovative designs that prioritize customer needs.
- Develop engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manage projects from concept to completion.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure products are optimized for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Support field testing and process improvements, incorporating new ideas into future designs.
- Provide technical support for the sales team, including quoting and scope of work development.
- Evaluate product designs relative to material selection, cost, and reliability.
- Work on sheet metal, structural fabrication, welding, and manufacturing equipment techniques.
- Use CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor) to create 3D models and drawings.
Must Have
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
- 1–3 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Inventor preferred, but SolidWorks or similar is acceptable).
- Experience in creating engineering drawings, BOMs, and project management.
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Hands-on experience with sheet metal, structural fabrication, welding, and manufacturing equipment techniques.
- Experience working with vendors and customers.
- Ability to see projects through from design to manufacturing and support production.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with electrical motors, controls, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Experience with quoting and defining project scopes.
- Previous work in field testing and process improvement.
