Job Overview
A well-established site development company is seeking a professional, career-oriented, and motivated Sr. Grading Estimator / Project Manager for a full-time, permanent position in Wilmington, NC.
Must have 3D Estimating Software experience (Ag-Tek preferred).
Candidate must be able to hit the ground running - no training provided.
This role requires business development efforts and being the face of the company.
Looking for a strong, driven leader with excellent communication skills.
No job hoppers or union candidates will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Estimating :
Manage multiple projects while completing estimating duties.
Use Carlson Civil Software and / or Ag-Tek for grading estimation.
Oversee site superintendents, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed within budget and on schedule.
Serve as the primary point of contact for project owners and engineers.
Attend pre-bid meetings and collaborate with owners, vendors, and subcontractors.
Develop accurate and competitive bid proposals, including quantity take-off, crew composition, and pricing.
Negotiate and manage subcontracts.
Track project budgets, progress, and schedules.
Analyze bid pricing and compare to historical data.
Prepare and submit material submittals for approval.
Manage change order pricing and negotiations.
Business Development & Leadership :
Act as a liaison for selling jobs and expanding private work opportunities.
Grow business opportunities by pursuing private projects that may otherwise slip through the cracks.
Be the face of the company, actively networking and building relationships.
Ease the owner's workload by handling key business development and operational responsibilities.
Qualifications & Experience
5 to 10 years of experience in site work and utility construction project management.
A Construction Management or Civil Engineering degree is desirable.
Proven experience estimating and managing civil site and utility construction projects.
Strong knowledge of grading estimating, project management, and business development.
Proficiency in 3D Estimating Software (Ag-Tek preferred).
Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project Standard scheduling software.
Cost accounting experience is preferred.
Ability to analyze specifications and plans and communicate them effectively to field teams.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, guide, and manage field personnel.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
A self-starter with a strong work ethic and a proactive, can-do attitude.
Valid driver's license required.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Must-Have Requirements :
3D Estimating Software experience (Ag-Tek preferred).
Grading estimating experience is a must.
Strong project management and business development skills.
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
No union candidates and no job hoppers.
