Maintains incomplete chart tracking system and processes notification letters to the medical staff on status of incomplete medical records, enforcing the documentation guidelines as set forth within Medical Staff Rules and Regulations
Reports to: Director of Health Information Management
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Notifies physicians of incomplete records and generates suspension letters as needed for delinquent records.
Maintains physician dictation area and ensures equipment is functioning properly and collects charts upon physician completion.
Analyze medical records for deficiencies.
Maintains knowledge of HIM department functions and workflow process and how it may affect delinquent/incomplete records.
Monitors physician verbal orders for any unsigned and notifies physician
Maintains log of incomplete transcription
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
X High school diploma or equivalent Required or three years of directly related experience.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Work Experience
Previous data entry experience preferred. Experience in medical records preferred. Knowledge of Medical Terminology required.
