Job Summary
The Vascular Access Nurse is responsible for the insertion of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) or Midline catheters.
Provide maintenance and follow-up care for PICC lines and central lines.
Serve as preceptors for RN's who have successfully completed a training course for the insertion of PICC Lines.
Initiates training and education for nursing staff, patient/family as required.
Reports to: Director of Critical Care Services
Essential Functions
Performs assessment skills. Plans nursing care. Intervenes with appropriate action after needs are identified. Evaluates the assessment, planning and intervention process. Demonstrates professional and personal development. Delivers direct patient care appropriate to age of patient served including adult and geriatric patients. Obtain physician order, consent, perform arterial line insertion and documentation
Job Requirements
Minimum Education x Graduate of a Program in Discipline Preferred x Required
Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), - to be obtained within 30 days. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), - to be obtained within 6 months Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), - to be obtained within 6 months TNCC, - to be obtained within 6 months
Minimum Work Experience Training In Vascular Access Required
Required Licenses West Virginia, United States Other
Current licensure by WV State Board of Nursing.
