Position
The Patient Service Associate checks the patient in for their appointment and completes the patient appointment by setting up future appointments and scheduling tests as ordered by the Provider. The employee must have knowledge of medical terminology, medical scheduling, insurance verification and excellent customer service skills.
Essential Job Functions
- Collect and accurately record patient demographics including insurance
- Collect and post co-pays
- Assist patients in completing HIPAA forms and other paperwork
- Assist patients with check-in/out
- Schedule follow-up appointments and testing
- Send orders for Pre-Authorization within the EMR system
- Make referrals as needed
- Return/make calls to patients to schedule appointments
- Work waiting lists
- Work Scheduling pool and assist with team member pools
- Verify insurance eligibility
- Obtain required authorizations for office visits
- Drop paperwork and other scanned documents into the EMR
- Answer messages via the EMR
- Knowledge and use of Patient Portal
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience in a medical office
- Insurance Verification Experience
- Scheduling Experience
- Excellent Customer Service Skills
- EMR Experience
