Raleigh Radiology is seeking a skilled Interface Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining HL7 interfaces that connect various healthcare systems and enable seamless data exchange. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of HL7 standards, healthcare IT systems, and interface engines.
Key Responsibilities:
- HL7 Interface Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain HL7 interfaces to ensure seamless communication between healthcare systems (e.g., EHR, EMR, RIS, PACS).
- Integration & Configuration: Configure, implement, and support interface engines (e.g., Iguana, InterSystems, Mirth, Cloverleaf, or Rhapsody) to enable data flow between systems in accordance with HL7 standards.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Monitor and troubleshoot HL7 interfaces to resolve. issues and ensure accurate, reliable data transmission. Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing interfaces.
- Data Mapping & Transformation: Map, transform, and validate healthcare data between disparate systems, ensuring compliance with HL7 messaging protocols and standards.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation of interface designs, configurations, and processes. Document troubleshooting steps and solutions for future reference.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, healthcare providers, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth integration and alignment of system interfaces with healthcare workflows.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Perform partner testing, system testing, and quality assurance to ensure interfaces are working correctly and data is accurately exchanged.
- Compliance & Security: Ensure all interfaces comply with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HL7 standards) and data security protocols.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
Experience:
- 3 years of experience in HL7 interface development or healthcare IT integration
- Strong experience with HL7 version 2.x and/or 3.x standards and messaging formats (ORM, ADT, ORU, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with interface engines (e.g., Iguana, InterSystems, Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody) and integration technologies.
- Familiarity with healthcare data formats such as CDA, CCD, and HL7 FHIR (optional but a plus).
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, or Java).
- Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and clinical systems (EHR, EMR, PACS, etc.).
- Experience with SQL, databases, and data transformation tools.
