POSITION:Reading Specialist
(with Reading or Moderate Disabilities Certification, 5-12)
POSITION OPEN: Effective Immediately for the remainder of the School Year 2024-2025
QUALIFICATIONS:
•The Reading Specialist Teacher for Ralph C. Mahar Regional School District must possess a thorough understanding of current reading pedagogy, assessment, and evidence-based intervention strategies, and be able to collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and other educational professionals to support students' reading success and educator effectiveness
•Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading, or related field
•Licensure through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Reading, All levels
•Experience in teaching reading at the middle school level
•Knowledge of evidence-based reading instruction and intervention strategies
•Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
•Experience with assessment and data analysis
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•The Reading Specialist is also responsible for providing specialized instruction to students who require additional support in reading and literacy skills and must have the ability to assess what reading interventions are needed for individual students and for the school as a whole
•The reading specialist may work with students 1:1, in small groups, or in the classroom setting
•The reading specialist will collaborate with administration and colleagues to plan and deliver professional learning opportunities for teachers in best practices in reading instruction and interventions
•Administer assessments to identify students who require reading intervention
•Develop and implement individualized reading plans for students
•Utilize evidence-based interventions to support student progress in reading
•Monitor and track student progress through frequent assessments
•Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to support student success
•Communicate with parents and guardians about students' progress in reading
•Facilitate data-informed discussions related to reading instruction and intervention
•Maintain accurate records of student progress and services provided
•Perform other related duties as assigned
Salary : $45,706 - $98,498
