Overview
Position Description
Create and Manage 3D models using VDC/BIM technologies on new and existing projects for estimating, constructability reviews.
Position Description
VDC/BIM Engineers responsibilities and abilities include but are not limited to the list below.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D (Specifically surfaces, alignments, assemblies, corridors, etc.)
- Proficient with Autodesk AEC Suite.
- Understand the means and methods of construction of underground utilities, industrial/water/wastewater piping, earthwork, and concrete structures and use that knowledge to guide the development of BIM models and surface models.
- Assist in the coordination of models both internally and externally.
- Review BIM models and provide constructability and construction sequence feedback.
- Model underground utilities and MEP systems.
- Model concrete building for lift drawings, rebar shop drawings and concrete formwork.
- Perform takeoffs from the model to assist pre-construction and field teams.
- Periodically travel to project sites to coordinate with on-site project staff and maintain familiarity with project site conditions.
- Work with VDC Lead
- Assumes additional responsibilities as directed.
- Maintain working knowledge of all programs and platforms required for role. Experience with creating and maintaining object library
- Willingness to learn company design methods procedures and take directions.
Software Experience Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent combinations of technical training, and/or related experience.
- 3 years’ experience of industry experience.
- 1 years’ experience 3D modeling concrete structures using Revit or Tekkla structure.
- 3 years’ experience 3D modeling utility networks, trenching and excavations in Civil 3D, Open Roads Design (or other Bentley Products), Trimble Business Center (or other Trimble Products), Revit or Agtek.
- 3 years’ experience providing BIM coordination services on major and complex projects using coordination platforms such as Navisworks, Trimble Connect, Revizto or Autodesk Construction Cloud to collaborate on projects.
- Experience in 4D schedule using Synchro, Navisworks or CmBuilder.
- Microsoft Office and Bluebeam expertise required
- Some knowledge of additional BIM related software is a plus
- Computer Programming (Revit and AutoCAD API) experience a plus.
- Dynamo and C# language experience are a plus.
- Problem solving, troubleshooting and training capabilities.
- Dashboard and data analysis capabilities are a plus (PowerBi, Tableau, Domo, etc.).
