Position Overview: The Quality Assurance Specialist is a key member of the production team, responsible for quality control inspections and process improvements across the production department. While the primary focus is on inspecting parts and determining whether to accept or reject them, the role also requires flexibility in supporting production operations. If parts need rework or are to be scrapped, the QA Specialist will work closely with production employees, providing necessary training and reinforcing required standards. In some cases, the QA Specialist may be required to directly participate in production tasks to maintain workflow or resolve quality issues in real-time.
In addition to monitoring rework and scrap trends, the QA Specialist will conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions as necessary. This role also includes regular collaboration with the RSA Quality Control Coordinator to ensure that quality practices align with companywide policies, procedures, and objectives. The QA Specialist will help develop and maintain SOP standards and quality documentation while utilizing internal tools for accurate QC data entry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactive monitoring of rework/scrap trends, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Inspection of parts as staged through production processes to catch potential issues at the earliest step.
- Ability to comprehend customer-supplied prints and specifications regarding part design
- Responsible for documenting nonconforming parts and creating/updating part-specific acceptability standards as necessary to provide consistent guidance for production employees
- Identified rejects are returned to the responsible party for either rework or scrapped with coaching to standards requirements.
- Assists in communicating our ISO 9001 Quality Policy, and ensuring work being performed conforms to our established documented procedures.
- Monitors daily part production and individual scanning of passed, reworked, and scrapped parts with complete data entry into production assistant software.
- Assists with customer RMA’s (Returned Material Authorization) processing and quality issues requiring Non-Conformance Reports and follow-up.
- Assists Department Managers with customer communication and replacement of parts as required due to quality issues
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a production quality role, with a strong understanding of quality control procedures and root cause analysis
- Flexibility to move between quality assurance tasks and hands-on production work when necessary
- Ability to read and interpret customer-supplied prints, specifications, and design standards
- Strong problem-solving skills to address quality issues promptly and effectively
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards and procedures
- Ability to document quality issues clearly and consistently, and to update part-specific acceptability standards as required
- Proficiency in data entry and using production software for quality tracking and reporting
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Shift Details:
- Schedule: First shift, Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
