What are the responsibilities and job description for the Secondary Instructional Coach position at Ralston High School?
Position Purpose :
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, to assist teachers with general instructional techniques in order to enhance student achievement. Instructional Coaches provide collaboration, consulting, and coaching services through activities such as peer coaching, collaborative communication, classroom demonstrations, modeling, and in-district workshops that support student achievement.
Essential Performance Responsibilities :

- Assists teachers with improving general instructional techniques in order to enhance student achievement.
- Provides instructional strategies and a variety of professional development activities designed to aid teachers with the instructional process.
- Assists teachers in aligning their instructional practices to meet the district's curricular, instructional, and organizational expectations.
- Assists staff members with the implementation of research-based, best practices designed to establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Observes teachers and provides feedback and / or lesson demonstrations.
- Engages in professional reflection with other certified staff members and participates in the cognitive coaching process.
- Models research-based instructional strategies and practices that are aligned with the district's instructional framework.
- Works with staff members to modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.
- Provides consultation in regard to long-range teacher planning.
- Assists with the implementation of instructional technology into the classroom.
- Assists with the collection and analysis of data to increase student achievement.
- Maintains familiarity with district and state standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests.
- Coordinates with other district staff members, particularly those associated with the district's mentoring and administrative teams.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Ensures that all recommended practices conform to the school's standards and school district policies.
- Maintains a regular and predictable attendance history while employed by the district
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
