What are the responsibilities and job description for the Department Coordinator - Claims position at RAM Mutual Insurance Company?

As a Claims Department Coordinator, you will perform critical administrative support functions at our home office to help facilitate timely and efficient claims processing while providing exceptional customer service. As a Claims Department Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to mutual partners, agents and policy holders as the primary point of contact for the department.
  • Responding to customer inquiries quickly, accurately and in a professional manner.
  • Providing prompt, courteous, and high-quality work in response to management direction and internal customer needs.
  • Assisting with claims set up, procuring documents/records, document retrieval, researching complex claim and policy coding issues, etc., as requested by Adjusters.
  • Identifying and resolving problems according to departmental guidelines; offering first level problem resolution to customers and escalating inquiries appropriately.
  • Handling key support functions for the department such as processing incoming mail, performing indexing functions, cprocessing and distributing checks, etc.
  • Processing glass and roadside assistance auto claims, collections, unclaimed property and Explanation of Reviews, etc.
  • Managing and maintaining Claims department data.
  • Reporting new claims to claimant carriers.
  • Generating, distributing, and processing internal reports.
  • Completing assigned work within established standards for timeliness and accuracy.
  • Completing special projects assigned by manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Prior customer service and/or administrative support experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be highly detail-oriented and possess exceptional organizational skills.
  • This position requires the ability to report to our home office in Esko, MN on a daily basis.

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate's degree and/or vocational certificate, preferably in business or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior insurance industry experience, preferably in property/casualty, strongly desired.
