Job Overview
As a leader in material planning and inventory control, you will play a critical role in the upstream operational success of the company’s production, quality, and logistics functions. You will work primarily in the warehouse and will be asked to work cross-functionally, interfacing with purchasing, production scheduling, and production to ensure goals are being met. This position will lead / own responsibility for ensuring raw materials, components and sub-assemblies are received, stored, cycle-counted, and ultimately delivered to production locations to support production needs, at optimal efficiency. You will work with process engineers to develop best practices and implement necessary process changes. You will also be one of the subject matter experts associated with the company’s MRP software solution. Job tasks will include, but are not limited to:

- This position will provide supervision of day-to-day operations including receiving, stocking, material planning, and production supply
- The individual will ensure efficiency and accuracy of stocking and organization of inventory
- This position works closely with the Procurement, Production, and Quality teams
- This position will report directly to the Production Manager
- Assist with setting up and maintaining the warehouse layout and overall flow of materials
- Train and assist other team members in locating items within the bill of materials, including a general understanding of the utilization of raw materials within the finished product
- Ensure that warehouse staff effectively and efficiently performs timely receiving, stocking, picking, and auditing of inventory to primary production locations
- Address issues related to any inbound packaging issues from our external suppliers
- Communicate with internal teams and internal customers, keeping all informed of the inventory and shipping status, including applicable reporting
- Regularly monitoring the inventory work, the implementation of assigned processes, such as coordination of a cycle count program
- Resolve process issues related to materials management, warehousing, production control, logistics, distribution, and returns of raw materials and/or sub-assemblies
- Oversee hourly employees to develop and implement supply plan and manage operational planning efforts to meet internal and external customer requirements
- Develop effective operating and replenishment plans to achieve desired inventory targets while meeting customer requirements and minimizing inventory holding and transportation costs
- Effectively collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Business Management on operational planning activities and issues
- Instruct and coach direct reports for cross-training among job functions
- Support the efforts of Sales and Business Management through the timely and effective communications of supply/demand and account issues, participation in problem solving activities
- Develop recommendations and corrective actions on quality and service issues
- Supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing opportunities for improvement or communicating ideas to management, as well as active participation on project teams
- A minimum of 3 years' supervisory experience
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working in a manufacturing organization
- Solid knowledge of data analysis, inventory management software, and forecasting techniques
- An analytical mind with strong attention to detail
- Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or relevant field preferred
- APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred
- LEAN / Six Sigma a plus
- Ideal candidate will lead by example and assist with the building of a dedicated and responsive team
