Cat Kennel Attendant

RBARI is seeking a full-time employee to fill a long term, year round role in our Cat Kennel as a Cat Kennel Attendant. Must have weekend availability and/or flexible schedule.

Candidate must have the ability to:

• Follow cleaning guidelines to ensure all areas of the Cattery are cleaned properly, including: cleaning and disinfecting occupied and unoccupied cat cages, sweeping and mopping floors, doing the laundry, washing and disinfecting litter boxes
• Have a working understanding of the cats available for adoption and be able to work with adopters to make a good match
• Practice and encourage the humane treatment of animals
• Work cooperatively with all volunteers and staff members, recognizing the talent and commitment they bring to the organization
• Drive cats to/from vet appointments when needed
• Lift 40 lbs. and move supplies (food, litter, etc.) from the storage shed to the Cattery
• Spend extended periods of times bending, leaning over, and doing repetitive motions when cleaning
• Restock rooms with supplies
• Make adoption kits and bags to provide to adopters
• Cultivate positive customer, volunteer and co-worker relations through professional, courteous, and educational interactions with all
• Be able to work and communicate with adopters compassionately, and assist the public whether that be in the front office, or outside when donors are dropping off donations

In addition, the candidate must demonstrate:

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of basic animal behavior and breeds is extremely helpful
• Commitment to the mission, values, goals, and success of the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc.
• A highly motivated, out-going, polite, and professional manner.
• Ability to be a team player and the ability to work in a fast-pace environment and multi-task.
• Compassion for animals, comfortable working in the shelter environment and willing to accommodate animals in the workplace.
• Reliable, punctual, and follows direction

Schedule:

40 hour a week position, one weekend day and four week days
