Examples of Duties
The Graduate Residence Director (GRD) assists in the overall responsibility for a campus residence area and directly supervises undergraduate paraprofessional staff. The GRD works with students to develop a sense of community in their residence area through educational and social programming, daily student interaction, and active participation in the overall residence life program. The GRD is expected to support the mission of the residence life department as well as the College by being a role model to students, supporting College programs and services, enforcing College policies and procedures, providing leadership during crisis situations and managing the assigned daily operations of their assigned area. Student Related Duties and Responsibilities :
- Works to create community within the assigned residence area
- Interacts with residents and makes themselves readily available to all students
- Provides consultations and referrals to students with academic, behavioral, emotional or physical concerns, as needed
- Be aware of college resources to refer students with academic, career and personal concerns
- Models appropriate behavior and confronts inappropriate behavior of residents
- Enforces college and residence life policies
- Mediates student conflicts
