Job Summary:
As a Teacher Assistant at The Ramp Early Learning Academy, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Lead Teacher in the daily operations of the classroom. Your responsibilities will include assisting with classroom activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, and supporting their physical, emotional, and social development. You will also help maintain a positive and nurturing environment where children feel safe, engaged, and eager to learn.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing educational activities and lessons that align with the developmental needs of the children.
- Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety, following all state safety regulations and school policies.
- Help manage the classroom environment by ensuring it is organized, clean, and welcoming for children and families.
- Assist with daily care routines such as feeding, diapering, and toileting (for younger age groups), ensuring hygiene and safety standards are followed.
- Engage in interactive play and activities that promote social interactions, creativity, and motor skills development.
- Observe and monitor children’s behavior, alerting the Lead Teacher to any concerns or developmental milestones.
- Support the Lead Teacher in documenting children's progress and updating parents/guardians as needed.
- Assist with transitions during daily routines, including helping with pick-up and drop-off procedures.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training to grow your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience working with children in a professional setting.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Completion of child abuse and neglect recognition and reporting training.
- Criminal background check, including fingerprinting, and clearance from the Virginia Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry and Sex Offender Registry. (Must be in place prior to working with children)
- Proof of a negative TB test or health screening. (Must be in place prior to working with children)
- All staff are responsible for maintaining state licensing requirements, completing ongoing professional development, and working collaboratively to foster a positive learning environment.
- Each position must adhere to the mission and values of Ramp Early Academy and Ramp Church International.
Preferred:
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or willingness to work towards obtaining it.
- Experience in an early childhood education setting.
