Job Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Operations Manager with a strong background in construction or manufacturing. This role is responsible for overseeing department managers across fabrication, production, and field installation, ensuring operations run efficiently, safely, and on budget.
While experience in the sign industry is a plus, we highly value candidates with construction or manufacturing leadership experience who understand production workflows, job site coordination, and workforce management. The right candidate will be a strategic leader who can drive operational improvements while providing guidance and support to department managers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support department managers in production, fabrication, and field operations.
- Ensure efficient workflows, quality control, and labor optimization across departments.
- Develop and implement operational improvements to enhance productivity and safety.
- Work with department managers to manage scheduling, workforce planning, and resource allocation.
- Enforce OSHA and industry safety standards in shop and field operations.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure smooth execution from fabrication to installation.
- Lead process analysis and strategic planning to drive continuous improvement.
- Report to company leadership on operational performance, budgets, and key metrics.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 10 years of experience in construction, manufacturing, or a related industry.
- Proven experience overseeing department managers and cross-functional teams.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
- Leadership experience in workforce management, production planning, and process improvement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and industry-related software.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation.
Preferred Experience (Not Required):
- Background in commercial sign fabrication, metalwork, or electrical installations is a plus.
- Understanding of permitting, installation logistics, or specialty fabrication processes.
Job Type: Full-time, exempt
Pay: $80,000-$110,000
Shift: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday; overtime as needed, occasional weekends
Work Location: Onsite, Portland, OR
