Key Responsibilities
Animal Care: Assist in the examination and treatment of animals by restraining them safely and providing comfort.
Patient Monitoring: Observe and record vital signs, behavior, and physical condition of animals, reporting any changes to the veterinary team.
Procedural Assistance: Support veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment is prepared and sterile.
Laboratory Work: Collect and prepare laboratory samples (blood, urine, feces) for analysis and perform basic laboratory tests as needed.
Client Interaction: Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing information on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
Medication Administration: Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by veterinarians and provide education to clients on proper administration.
Facility Maintenance: Ensure cleanliness and organization of treatment areas, exam rooms, and kennels, adhering to sanitation protocols.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for each patient, including treatments, medications, and observations.
Experience: Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in a related field is preferred but not mandatory. A passion for animal care is essential.
Animal Handling Skills: Strong ability to handle and restrain a variety of animals safely and compassionately.
