SUMMARY
Our Personal Trainers are dynamic and hard-working individuals with a passion for fitness to motivate, encourage and inspire the lives of our guests and members. This is an Independent Contractor position which allows a flexible work schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Deliver an exceptional experience to members, guests and team members.
- Provide top quality, safe and innovative fitness instruction; develop and deliver a high level of personalized exercise programs based upon the client’s abilities, health and goals.
- Provide new member fitness consultations and evaluations, as applicable.
- Keep track of each client’s training sessions and fee payments, as applicable.
- Maintain accurate, current records on all client exercise programs and progress, as applicable.
- Achieve personal revenue goals each month, as applicable.
- Establish and maintain positive client base.
- Instruct and demonstrate to members on the proper use of equipment and exercise techniques which may include operating equipment and dynamically moving weight up to 50 pounds.
- Be on time for all scheduled appointments and classes.
- Communicate timely and follow up as appropriate.
- Active participation in events, programs, meetings and trainings, as applicable.
- Follow all resort procedures as dictated by Rancho Valencia Spa and Rancho Valencia Resort and Spa.
- Follow-up with Manager on Duty on all comments, concerns and suggestions made by Rancho Valencia guests and members.
- Performs other duties as directed, developed or assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Personal Training, Group Exercise, or Pilates certification with one or more of the following: Specialty specific (i.e., Yoga, Pilates, TRX, etc.) certification, as required for format taught
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Minimum two (2) years of fitness industry experience
- Able to work holidays, weekends, mornings and evenings as needed.
- Ability to communicate in English with guests and staff to their understanding

- Excellent writing, speaking, and organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work as a team or work independently.
Desirable:
- Previous spa, hotel, or luxury club experience.
- Previous experience in a 5-star environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing. Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property.
- Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.
- Frequently needs to stand for long periods of time.
- Lifting/carrying up to 20 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Vision requirements: constant need to view small print. Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.
- Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
Salary : $60
