Salary: $105,000 - $115,000

Position Summary:
The Director of Packaging will provide strategic and creative leadership for the end-to-end packaging design and development process. This role is responsible for delivering innovative, high-quality, and sustainable packaging solutions that align with brand vision and business objectives. The Director will lead a team and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including licensors, sales, merchandising, factories, and offshore manufacturing teams, to ensure seamless execution and optimal results.
Essential Job Functions:
- Brand Alignment & Design Leadership: Lead the design and development of packaging and in-store fixturing/floor plans that consistently reflect and enhance the brand's aesthetics and values, ensuring a cohesive customer experience.
- Concept Development & Execution: Oversee the ideation, prototyping, and execution of packaging concepts, ensuring they meet brand guidelines, customer requirements, and market trends.
- Production Development Review (PDR) Management: Manage the PDR process to ensure timely and accurate execution of packaging concepts and updates, adhering to established timelines and budgets.
- Project Management & Budget Control: Manage multiple packaging projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery within budget constraints, and providing regular progress updates to stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with licensors, sales, merchandising, factories, and offshore manufacturing teams to facilitate effective communication and project alignment.
- Process Optimization & Cost Savings: Lead productivity initiatives to optimize packaging processes, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation: Oversee the sourcing of packaging materials and services, negotiate favorable contracts with suppliers, and manage vendor relationships.
- Sustainability Leadership: Champion sustainability initiatives, including material reduction, the adoption of eco-friendly packaging solutions, and the implementation of circular economy principles, aiming for measurable reductions in environmental impact.
- Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and develop a team of packaging designers and engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment, and ensure team members are growing in their technical skills.
- Consumer & Market Insights: Utilize consumer insights and market research to inform packaging design decisions, ensuring optimal shelf appeal and alignment with customer preferences, while adhering to all relevant regulatory compliance standards.
Education/License Requirements:
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent degree/experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Required: 5 years of experience in packaging design, graphic design, or a related field.
- Experience in packaging design and development in fashion or consumer goods.
- Strong expertise in materials, production process and sustainability best practices.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, 3D modeling, and AI skills.
- Strong leadership, communication and presentation skills.
