Overview

Randolph Animal Hospital has an opportunity for a full-time Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team! 

Location: 400 S Main St, Randolph, MA 02368 

Compensation: $18 - $24/hour with annual bonus opportunities

Shift Details: 8-10 hour shifts (some shifts starting as early as 7:30 am some as late as 8pm), rotating Saturdays. Must have flexibility with schedule for some opening and closing shifts.

Tuesday 9:00am - 7:00pm

Wednesday 9:00am - 7:00pm

Thursday 9:00am - 7:00pm

Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm

Saturday 8:00am - 3:00pm

Randolph Animal Hospital is a four-doctor, AAHA-accredited Animal Hospital located in Randolph, MA.  We are a busy and fast paced hospital that sees dog, cats and exotic patients. We have a wonderful clientele and an even better, inclusive team!

Our practice is at the forefront of technology, employing Scribenote for efficient charting. This innovative AI technology records conversations with clients and converts them into veterinary medical documentation in a single click, significantly saving charting time for our professionals.

Paisley Paws is a non-profit veterinary organization that was established to fill the gap and assist with meeting the financial needs of the veterinary profession. Paisley Paws provides grants directly to partnered hospitals, like Randolph Animal Hospital, to assist with treatment or specialty care for families that cannot afford the cost of life-saving veterinary care.

We also serve as holding facility for stray dogs and occasionally cats for the animal control. We hold the animals, offer medical attention if needed and if the animals are not claimed, we work with placing these animals with rescue groups to find their forever homes.

We offer a wide variety of different treatments and modalities. Some of the services we offer are ultrasound, video otoscopy and more.

Responsibilities

How you'll make an impact:

• Our Veterinary Assistants assist the Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians in all of their duties
• The Veterinary Assistant helps to prepare animals for exams and surgery.
• The Veterinary Assistant aids in performing medical treatments.
• The Veterinary Assistant will perform or prepare laboratory tests.
• The Veterinary Assistant will administer medications under the direction of a Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician.
• The Veterinary Assistant will obtain and properly handle/prepare in-house and laboratory specimens (cytology, blood draws, blood smear, fecal, etc.)
• The Veterinary Assistant works in cooperation with staff to attend to any immediate needs.
• The Veterinary Assistant handles animals and their owners in a responsive, courteous and tactful manner, and inform staff and clients of any pertinent medical information related to animal care.
• The Veterinary Assistant maintains a healthy, safe, sanitary, pleasant and clean facilities for the animals.

Qualifications

Physical demands and work environment

• The Veterinary Assistant must have the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with the assistance of a coworker. Requires sufficient ambulatory skills.
• The Veterinary Assistant must be able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment that can be moderately high.
• The Veterinary Assistant is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.
• The Veterinary Assistant must be fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
• The Veterinary Assistant must be able to exchange accurate information with all clients and team members.
