Job Description 

Summary/objective

The Department of Psychological Science is seeking adjunct instructors to teach in-person classes including Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Psychopharmacology, Psychological Disorders, and/or specialized topics related to a candidate’s areas of expertise beginning in August 2024. Teaching takes place in our innovative Take2 curricular model where courses are offered in two 7-week sessions each semester. The department is seeking instructors with a strong commitment to teaching excellence who can teach one or two courses per semester. A MA or Ph.D. in psychology and teaching experience at the undergraduate level is required.

  • Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, facilitate discussions, and develop course materials aligned with the course objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Design and administer various assessment tools (e.g., exams, assignments, projects) to evaluate students' understanding and mastery of course content, and provide constructive feedback
  • Maintain office hours and be available for individual consultation with students, providing academic guidance, mentoring, and support as needed.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of psychological theories, principles, research methods, and applications within the specific content area(s).
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging and interactive lessons, facilitate discussions, and employ various teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning abilities.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing fair and appropriate assessment tools, grading criteria, and providing constructive feedback to support student learning.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, manage classroom dynamics, and address student concerns effectively.
