Job Description
Summary/objective
The College Driver provides safe vehicle transportation and operation for College personnel and/or equipment and materials from various locations both on and off campus. In addition serves as mechanic’s helper/custodian helper when not otherwise engaged in driving duties.
Essential functions

- Operates assigned vehicle in a safe manner to pick up and deliver personnel and/or equipment and materials to a variety of locations, both on and off campus.
- Deliver samples or specimens from Terrell Health Center to local hospitals or Health Department.
- Provides messenger service for campus communications and other administrative functions.
- Pick up/deliver material from vendors or Buildings and Grounds Department or Business Office as assigned.
- Light auto service for campus fleet of vehicles.

Physical demands
- Requires full range of body motion, including reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing and walking. Must be able to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires standing for extended periods of time. Requires ability to operate motorized equipment requiring manual dexterity. Must have good vision, with or without corrective lenses.
- Must be able to understand/follow basic safety precautions involved in the use of maintenance materials, the operation of the hand and power tools, and use of personal safety items.
Travel required
- Travel required is limited to on campus and periodically off campus to obtain materials required to perform your daily duties. Randolph College requires a valid driver’s license issued from the state of Virginia to operate a college owned vehicle and as a prerequisite to driving a college owned vehicle the job applicant must pass a driver safety session with the campus security department.
Required education and experience

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year experience in general maintenance & custodial work .
- Knowledge of materials and tools used in such work.
- Automobile oil & filter change experience.
