What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker position at Randolph County Commission?
Job Summary:
The Maintenance worker keeps the buildings in clean and orderly condition. This worker also performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Cleaning snow or debris from sidewalk and making purchases for supplies and equipment is also a part of this work. This position involves little to no independent decision making and action.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Purchases janitorial and maintenance equipment and supplies.
· Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, striping, waxing, and vacuuming them.
· Gathers and empties trash.
· Services, cleans, and supplies restrooms.
· Cleans windows, mirrors, change air filters, change light bulbs, and empty humidifier.
· Cleans and polish furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
· Maintains the grounds by trimming shrubs and trees.
· Performs landscaping, snow removal, and flood cleanup as needed.
· Makes adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
· Performs light carpentry, electrical work, hang pictures, do plumbing, and other skilled labor.
· Prepares election supplies; pick up office supplies; clean sidewalks; move furniture.
· Starts generator.
· Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Knowledge of sweeper, cleaning supplies, lawn mower, basic electricity for changing light bulbs, and knowledge of plumbing.
· Ability to drive, run lawn mower, vacuum, and climb ladders.
Other Characteristics:
· None.
Work Environment:
· Works 15-20 hours per week, sometimes in split or non-standard shifts.
· Work is inside and outside eight county buildings in courthouse complex.
· Drives to purchase cleaning supplies; drives to plow snow; and drives to run errands.
· May sometimes work weekends or holidays.
Qualifications:
· Education & Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with preferred emphasis in building trades in high school classes. One (1) to three (3) years experience in custodial/janitorial work or equivalent is preferred.
· Certifications & Credentials: Valid driver’s license.
