Job Summary

The Graphic Designers are responsible for the design, production, and adaptations of Random Acts’ visual elements. These elements include, but are not limited to : artwork and graphics for the website, such as banners, buttons, and headers; letterhead; business cards; social media graphics, t-shirts and all other merchandise. The Graphic Designers also produce artwork to support the organization’s campaigns and projects, which may include promotional images,

posters, and working with stock images.

The Graphic Designers are part of the Random Acts Multimedia department, and report to the Assistant Manager of Graphic Design as well as the Multimedia Manager. Close collaboration with other creative teams like photography and videography may also be necessary.

What you’ll do…

  • Design, create, and edit artwork for Random Acts’ branded images, printed materials, merchandise, and the web using Random Acts’ brand guidelines.
  • Archive and maintain a library of assets, including backups.
  • Follow project briefs to create engaging and effective graphics for a wide range of demographics.
  • Keep the Multimedia Manager & Assistant, and Creative Director informed of all project progress.
  • Be a point of contact and consultation for all branded and creative initiatives across the organization.
  • Work as a team when necessary to complete projects by the appropriate deadlines, while also ensuring alignment with our brand.
  • Participate in regular team and project meetings as often as possible, check email on a regular basis, and use our internal systems to provide status updates and share files.

This is a remote, volunteer position. Applicants must have regular and reliable access to the internet, as well as the motivation to dedicate their time to the organization. Software / Hardware will not be provided by Random Acts.

Who you are…

  • Enthusiastic and committed to the objectives of Random Acts.
  • Experience using brand guidelines to create cohesive artwork.
  • Passionate about story-telling skills through art.
  • Works well as part of a team and independently.
  • Responsive to constructive feedback.
  • Good understanding of vector illustration and typography.
  • Comfortable communicating with diverse groups, including staff, supporters, peers, and the public.
  • Good written communication skills in English, although additional languages are desirable.
  • Comfortable working within reasonably tight deadlines, sometimes with short notice.
  • Ability to be reachable via email.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent software.
  • Some knowledge of Canva, Google Slides, and Motion Graphics would be a bonus, but not essential for a successful applicant.

    • Applicant requirements :

  • Have the ability to temporarily store large files and share them to the cloud storage as supplied by Random Acts.
  • Able to commit a minimum of 3-6 hours per week to Random Acts activities.
  • A portfolio for graphic design showcasing vector designs and good utilization of typography -OR- willing to complete an assigned task to demonstrate skills
