Responsibilities
- Strategic Vision & Direction: Developing and implementing long-range objectives, plans, and policies to ensure the utility's competitive position and sustainable growth in the delivery of electric, water, and gas commodities.
- Operational Excellence: Directing and supervising the administration and operations of the utilities, ensuring efficient and reliable service delivery to customers.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivating strong relationships with the Board of Commissioners, community members, and other key stakeholders, representing the utility's interests and fostering trust.
- Financial Stewardship: Overseeing the financial health of the organization, including budgeting, financial oversight, and ensuring responsible resource management.
- Team Leadership & Development: Directing and supervising personnel across departments, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment, and ensuring employee needs are met.
- Future-Focused Planning: Ensuring adequate plans are in place for future development and growth, anticipating and addressing the evolving needs of the utility and its customers.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Public Administration.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible related experience, ideally within the utilities sector.
- Strong understanding of public sector organizational operations.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience, with the ability to lead and develop teams across departments.
- Proven focus on strategic initiatives, particularly regarding technology deployment and cybersecurity.
- Proficiency in budgeting and financial oversight at a departmental or organizational level.
- Excellent computer skills and the ability to utilize technology and applications effectively.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including a strong commitment to customer satisfaction, outstanding oral and written communication abilities (including public relations), and the capacity to build positive relationships with employees and customers.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and maintain meticulous attention to detail
- Strong negotiation, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to remain composed and exercise sound judgment in challenging situations.
- Willingness to travel as needed and actively participate (5-10% of time) in community and utility-related organizations.
- Must be a customer of the utility (specific details will be provided during the interview process).
- Successful completion of pre-employment and post-accident drug, alcohol, and cannabis testing.
- Commitment to completing any required courses or training.
