responsibilities:
- Develop and Maintain Legacy Systems: Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications, focusing on COBOL and JCL for efficient system functionality.
- Troubleshoot Issues: Identify, analyze, and resolve issues within legacy mainframe systems, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.
- Database Management: Perform DB2 database management tasks, including data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) processes, and query optimization.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with other developers, business analysts, and compliance teams to understand requirements and integrate system updates.
- Compliance and Regulatory Updates: Ensure all systems and applications comply with relevant regulatory standards and contribute to compliance-driven projects.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, reviewing code and offering technical advice on best practices.
- Documentation: Write and maintain technical documentation for legacy systems, updates, and changes made to ensure future clarity and compliance.

qualifications:
- Experience:
- 10 years of hands-on experience in mainframe development, including extensive work with COBOL, JCL, SQL, and DB2.
- Strong background in legacy system management and mainframe application modernization.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in mainframe programming languages (COBOL, JCL) and modern development tools.
- Expertise in DB2 database management, including experience with data extraction, transformation, and optimization.
- In-depth understanding of regulatory compliance requirements within technology systems.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- IBM Certified Specialist or similar mainframe-related certifications, such as:
- IBM Certified System Programmer - z/OS
- IBM Certified Application Developer - COBOL
- Additional IT certifications related to software development, systems integration, or regulatory compliance can be beneficial.
