Software Engineer

job summary:

Our client is a manufacturer of equipment used in electronic manufacturing, specifically for repairing printed circuit boards. Their machines are embedded with software and currently undergoing next-generation development. This role is pivotal in modernizing existing software and designing new features, working closely with the current software engineer.

This is a 100% onsite role with a preference for candidates who can engage hands-on with the equipment. The team values collaboration, with engineers working across disciplines, making this a great opportunity for someone eager to learn beyond software engineering.

responsibilities:

• Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, debugging, installation, maintenance, and support.
• Assist in system proposals and scope reviews, working closely with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, software, imaging) to develop integrated system solutions.
• Evaluate operational feasibility by analyzing problems, defining requirements, and developing solutions.
• Develop and maintain software documentation, including flowcharts, diagrams, layouts, and clear, well-documented code.
• Design and implement Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) and integrate new image processing algorithms into existing software.
• Integrate APIs for new hardware devices and real-time hardware programming, including motion control and PID control.
• Maintain best practices for software development and ensure compliance with quality assurance processes.
• Occasionally travel (approx. 5%) to HQ in NY or customer sites worldwide for technical discussions or troubleshooting.

qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience: Open to entry-level candidates (Entry Level Candidates or 1 year experience) up to 10 years of hands-on software development experience.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and pass a background check and drug test.
• Strong proficiency in C/C , C#, .NET, and Visual Basic, with a focus on C# .NET development.
• Experience working with Windows platforms and Visual Studio development tools.
• Ability to work in a highly technical, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
