Location: Baltimore, MD (Hybrid after initial onboarding – 3 days per week onsite)
Duration: 6-Month Contract to Hire
Compensation: $72,000 - $127,000 annually
Job Overview:
Join a dynamic IT team as they work on a critical initiative to consolidate public safety applications and create a global communication center for both the hospital and university. This role will support the establishment of a new police department network and ensure robust security and high availability for the infrastructure. You’ll work with an evolving team to design, implement, and maintain the network infrastructure, which is separated from the university's central IT network.
Responsibilities:
- Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including core and access layer switches, firewalls, and internet access components.
- Collaborate with vendors for equipment installations and configuration, working closely with JHU's central IT and professional services teams.
- Build and support high-availability networking solutions and ensure reliable performance across the infrastructure.
- Manage and maintain Arista switches using Cloud Vision Portal, ensuring version control and system updates.
- Develop and deploy Palo Alto firewall rules to ensure network security.
- Assist with the development of security policies and best practices in line with university standards.
- Troubleshoot network and security-related issues, working with internal and external teams to resolve them quickly.
- Ensure compliance with security requirements related to public safety and law enforcement networks.
Required Skills & Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of Arista networking systems and Cloud Vision Portal.
- Strong experience with Cisco networking systems.
- Arista Networks certification or equivalent experience.
- CCNP or CCDP certification.
- Expertise in managing Palo Alto firewalls and creating firewall rules.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including external vendors and internal IT professionals, to deliver successful network solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure within law enforcement or police department environments is nice to have.
