We are seeking a Molecular Research Technician to join our BioMonitoring R&D Team in Bellevue, WA. This role plays a key part in expanding our food pathogen diagnostics portfolio, supporting development projects, and contributing to our BioMonitoring strategy. As part of a global, cross-functional team, you will help drive innovative projects, analyze data, and engage in scientific discussions. Responsibilities
- Assist scientists with food study research, including performing background research and general lab maintenance.
- Conduct PCR/qPCR and aseptic technique procedures.
- Work in a BSL-2 lab environment while wearing PPE at all times.
- Handle food bacterial pathogens (must be comfortable working with food-related microbes).
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Microbiology).
- 1-3 years of lab-based experience in Life Sciences or Microbiology.
- Experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory environment.
- Ability to lift 15 - 20 lbs. (food sample enrichments).
- Hands-on experience with microbiology techniques such as culture media preparation, culture propagation, and identification.
- Strong proficiency in aseptic technique.
- Experience in experimental planning, data interpretation, and troubleshooting.
- Background in food microbiology and diagnostics.
- Familiarity with biohazard safety procedures and microbiological environmental monitoring.
- Experience with PCR and/or immunological assays.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred.
- Strong motivation, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a high-achieving team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a diverse team environment.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
- Experience in Good Documentation Practices (GDP) within a research environment.
