Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist II to join our team in North Chicago, IL. This role focuses on formulation and process development for biologics and small-molecule parenteral injectables. The successful candidate will have a background in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, chemical engineering, bioengineering, or related disciplines, along with hands-on experience in formulation, analytical methods, and manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize formulations and processes for parenteral products (injectables).
- Work with manufacturing unit operations, including:
- Ultrafiltration and diafiltration
- Freeze drying and spray drying
- Mixing, filling, and sterile filtration
- Conduct analytical testing of protein therapeutics using methods such as:
- SEC-HPLC, icIEF, Karl Fischer titration, fluorescence, DSC, UV-Vis spectroscopy
- Perform statistical data analysis and design experiments using software such as Minitab or JMP.
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams and independently manage assigned projects.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Experience with parenteral product (injectables) formulation and/or process development.
- Familiarity with manufacturing unit operations.
- Expertise in analytical methods for protein therapeutics.
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis and hands-on experience with Design of Experiments (DoE).
- Strong ability to work and think independently.
Educational Requirements:
- Scientist I: Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of industry experience.
- Scientist II:
- Bachelor’s degree with 4-6 years of industry experience, or
- Master’s degree with relevant graduate research and 0-3 years of industry experience (preferred).
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with process modeling and scientific programming.
Work Environment
- A mix of both independent work and collaboration in a team setting.
- On-site role, with no remote work flexibility.
Schedule
- General working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility may be required based on project needs.
Salary : $36 - $44
