A Category Manager is needed for a utility holding company in MN, CO, western WI, Upper Peninsula of MI, Eastern SD & ND, west Texas, and southeast NM areas. The Category Manager develops and executes sourcing strategies for high-impact categories, manages supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, mitigates risks, and drives continuous improvement to optimize cost, quality, and operational efficiency.

responsibilities :
Develop and execute category strategies for multiple high-impact categories.
Lead competitive sourcing events and supplier selection processes.
Conduct supply, demand, market, commodity, and cost analyses to inform category strategies.
Monitor industry trends and supplier risk profiles to keep strategies current.
Implement optimal inventory strategies in collaboration with logistics teams.
Develop and manage supplier relationships to improve cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Establish supplier performance scorecards and track continuous improvement efforts.
Lead contract negotiations and ensure supplier compliance with contract terms.
Resolve disputes with suppliers and manage contract claims to minimize costs. Skills :
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing / sourcing systems.
strong interpersonal, relationship management, and customer service skills.
Ability to attend and participate in meetings as required. Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 5 years in sourcing, procurement, or logistics.
At least 2 years of experience in contract formation, negotiation, and project management preferred.
Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification preferred. #LI-SJ1
