We are seeking a dedicated and skilled JR Financial Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial analysis, budgeting, and corporate-level accounting. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with division management to develop and maintain financial plans, monitor resource usage, and prepare comprehensive financial reports to support business objectives.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform duties under general direction, with independence in decision-making within job framework.
- Assist with researching, compiling information, and maintaining division budgets and related activities.
- Collaborate with department managers to gather relevant information for department budgets.
- Prepare financial forecasts, cost proposals, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Monitor departmental expenses, compare against budgets, and prepare reports explaining variances.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting, policies, and procedures, staying current on changes.
- Foster effective relationships with the Finance department to maintain balanced accounts and ensure compliance with accounting procedures and deadlines.
- Resolve processing errors and discrepancies, verify documents, and research account information.
- Work with division management to ensure accurate financial plans and cost management.
- Assist in the implementation and enhancement of financial accounting systems and internal controls.
- Provide operational advice, guidance, and training to junior team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- At least three years of job-related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two years of corporate-level accounting or financial analyst experience in a comparable-sized organization.
- Insurance accounting experience (preferred).
Job Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC regulations, Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP), and state insurance department statutes (with an emphasis on insurance and/or investment accounting).
- Proficient in accounting and financial systems applications (SAP preferred).
- Experience with complex financial analyses, valuation methodologies, and quantitative business analysis.
- Competence in cost management and project management.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Technical Skills:
- Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Crystal Reports.
- Proficiency in SAP.
