Job Purpose: To participate in setting up, operating and monitoring die-cast machines to efficiently produce quality parts
Job Details: Monday-Friday; 8 Hour Shifts; Occasional weekday and weekend overtime

Set-Up General Summary:
As a Die Cast Set-up Operator, you will work safely and efficiently, ensuring set-up schedule and production needs are achieved. It is expected that there is a commitment for never ending improvements and a positive relationship to fellow Team Members and Leaders, while supporting Rane LMCA policies and procedures. Qualified candidates must be able to read prints, calculate measurements and successfully complete and pass the set up operator test which measures these skills and qualifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe work environment for self and others. Follows all safety rules and regulations. Demonstrate commitment to safety program.
- Ensure part quality is in accordance with inspection report
- Perform complete set up of die cast machines
- Monitor and document all aspects of set up to minimize production down-time
- Accurately complete reports and all necessary paper work for the jobs
- Utilizes the 5-S principles (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain) to maintain an orderly, clean and safe work area.
- Ability to regularly meet or exceed efficiency requirements
- Actively participates in CIP events to improve the safety, quality, and efficiencies of our current processes and procedures
- Support and positively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
- Communicates with supervisor and co-workers in a professional manner
- Promote a positive atmosphere. Actively support activities that promote the welfare and morale of TEAM employees.
- May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Required Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 2-3 years manufacturing experience required
- Manual die cast experience required
- Formal set-up training required
- Must be able to operate a fork lift and overhead cranes safely
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work effectively under pressure on multiple machines projects simultaneously
- High degree of mental concentration and virtual stress
- Bending, twisting, lifting (to 30 pounds with proper equipment), squatting and climbing may be required
Work Environment/Hours:
- Exposure to manufacturing related chemicals including oils, grease, solvents, cleaning agents
- Exposure to die cast related materials including molten aluminum, die lubricants
- Exposure to extreme variation in working environment temperatures (40 to 115 degrees F)
- Must be flexible for possible coverage on any shift or work schedule. Some holiday/weekend work may be required.
- Must have knowledge and ability to practice safe work habits in accordance with federal/state laws and company policies.
