RCI-ABBV-28955 Scientist (PBMC/Automated Liquid Handler/scRNAseq/DNA/RNA Extraction/Library Preparation)

Hybrid onsite (3 days/week)

Lab-based position, will help process PBMCs and FFPE tissues for scRNAseq and fixed RNA profiling workflows, scRNAseq library preparation and QC

What are the top 3-5 skills, experience or education required for this position?

• Experience with scRNAseq workflows (10x Genomics preferred) including library preparation and QC is required
• Experience handling PBMCs, primary cells, and/or tissues is required
• Background in biology, immunology, molecular biology, or other related field
• Experience with automated liquid handlers is preferred but not required
• Experience working with large sample cohorts/in a team environment is preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute high-throughput scRNAseq library preparations by working effectively on a team and leveraging the use of automated liquid handlers (e.g. Biomek i7).
• Operate Illumina sequencers and other lab instrumentation for quality control of NGS Libraries (e.g., Tapestation).
• Accurately document project and sample information, protocols, and experimental details through the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN)
• Conduct experiments, troubleshoot, and optimize protocols independently and in collaboration with colleagues to deliver high-quality data in a timely fashion.
• Interpret findings and communicate effectively to present scientific data, concepts, and recommendations to various internal audiences.
• Interface with computational biologists and data scientists to generate and interpret scRNAseq datasets.
• Work in client’s matrixed environment and support activities for different groups across the organization, which may include alignment meetings.

Qualifications:

• BS or equivalent education with 3 years of experience or MS or equivalent education with typically 2 years of experience.
• Strong background in basic molecular biology and/or genomics with proficiency in molecular biology lab techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction and nucleic acid QC, as well as familiarity with PBMC isolation and handling

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with nuclei isolation from PBMCs and/or tissues is preferred.
• Familiarity with 10X Genomics platforms, particularly scRNAseq, Fixed RNA profiling, and/or scATACseq, is preferred.
• Familiarity with automated liquid handlers such as Biomek i7 or Tecan Fluent is a plus but not required.
• Background in R is a plus but not required.
• Background in immunology is a plus but not required.
