Summary:
The main function of a hardware engineer is to research, design, develop, test electronic devices.
- The hardware engineer is responsible for the design of custom electronic assemblies, integration into the system and ownership of system sustaining whilst the device is in use.
- In this role the HW Engineer will develop low volume, prototype, camera systems for engineering development in-house.
Must-Have Skills
- Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium or equivalent
- Experience working with one of these technologies: use of oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, or function generators
- Experience working with one of these technologies: micro controllers, camera modules, DC/DCs, Power management, Battery Management System, USB
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Design of HDI PCBs
- Design of Flexible Printed circuit boards
- Defining cable looms
- Experience with high speed multi-Gbps interfaces
- Design of high power DC/DCs and hotswap/load switches and/or battery packs
- Design of wearable electronics
Job Responsibilities:
- Review and approve plan layout, including type of computers and peripheral equipment modifications.
- Review and approve product prototypes, working models.
- Supervise functioning of equipment and approve modifications to ensure the system operates in conformance with specifications.
- Write detailed functional specifications that document the hardware development process and support hardware introduction.
- Act as a subject matter expert to engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of the overall system.
- Provide training and support to system designers and users.
- Design and develop computer hardware and support peripherals, including central processing units (CPUs), support logic, microprocessors, custom integrated circuits, cameras.
- Direct technicians, engineering designers or other technical support personnel as needed.
Minimum Experience:
- Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium or equivalent
- Experience working with one of these technologies: use of oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, or function generators
- Experience working with one of these technologies: micro controllers, camera modules, DC/DCs, Power management, Battery Management System, USB
- Proven technical communication skills
Preferred Experience:
- Design of HDI PCBs

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required
- 8 years of industry experience in electrical design
- BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
- Proven knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
