Board of Directors - Member - Legal Advisor (International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council)
International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council (IWRC) is a non-profit organization with 50 years’ experience providing educational classes and resources for the wildlife rehabilitation community here in North America and internationally. We support a community of professionals who provide care for injured, sick, and orphaned wildlife with the goal of providing them a second chance at a return to the wild, alongside other wildlife conservation, public education, and public health duties performed by our members. We are currently advertising for a volunteer board member position to provide legal advice regarding good governance of our non-profit organization to the board of directors.
Title : Board Member
Duration of Service : 1 term minimum (3 years per term with a maximum of 3 terms possible).
Responsibilities :
- Provide legal advice and recommendations to the executive director, chairperson of the board, and the board at large pertaining to good governance of non-profit organizations in the following areas :
- Fiduciary responsibilities of the board
- Tax issues and regulatory compliance
- Human resources
- Conflicts of interest
- Press releases and media-related issues
- Financial development of the organization
- Position statements regarding wildlife rehabilitation, conservation, and educational matters that may arise
