Job Description
Provides effective maintenance and operation of the water and wastewater utility. Utilizes troubleshooting skills to address utility operations and maintenance. May operate equipment or perform tasks that do not require specialized licenses.
Essential Functions
Field work involving the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground water mains and tapping water mains
Independent travel to multiple worksites utilizing service trucks or equipment
Performs line stops, wet taps, and valve insertions utilizing different pipe types and products.
Breakdown and setup of line stops, tapping, and valve inserting equipment.
Performing and assisting in shop duties as necessary
Work within confined spaces (trench boxes, excavations, tunnels, and mechanical rooms)
Prepare and/or complete work orders and safety sheets
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of and the ability to use basic hand tools, materials, and equipment commonly used in the performance of job function.
Knowledge of using pumps, compressors, and other appropriate equipment
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and be able to write legible and descriptive reports on duties performed.
Ability to work on emergency repairs and services unsupervised or in teams of various sizes.
Ability to work outdoors in various and/or extreme weather conditions
Ability to work on an on-call or emergency basis as needed
Ability to travel locally, regional, or nationally
Working knowledge of OSHA & EPA Regulations.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Ability to maintain effective working relationships
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to proficiently operate Bluetooth/internet-requiring devices (e.g., GPS, tablet, phone)
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Must have a valid driver’s license clear of multiple and/or major violations.
Class A CDL license (preferred)
High school diploma or equivalent
2 years of similar experience in construction
Ability to operate forklifts and obtain a forklift certification
