Staff Accountants prepare and review financial documents, reports, and statements. They assist in accounting procedures (e.g., tax returns, month-end closures, budgeting) and advise on general financial matters.

Role Responsibilities
• Reconcile the general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, payables, receivables, and finalization of all sales
• Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
• Purchase supplies and equipment as authorized by management.
• Maintain the accounts payable system in a healthy financial stance.
• Responsible for the preparation of purchase orders
• Ensure invoices and/or checks are properly coded, entered, prepared, and issued to vendors and/or customers.
• Ensure secure and timely payments for any due costs.
• Ensure that receivables are collected promptly.
• Record cash receipts and make bank deposits.
• Conduct a monthly reconciliation of every bank account.
• Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain the petty cash fund.
• Issue financial statements.
• Assist the external accountant as needed
• Conduct and prepare a financial analysis of the financial statements
• Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
• Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities
• Ensure accounting records are always maintained in an orderly, current, and accurate manner.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding any sensitive information
• High level of sound business discernment in executing and informing project payment and purchasing
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software (especially Excel)
• Working proficiency in QuickBooks and Sage
• Possess a solid mathematical aptitude
• Superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and critical thinking skills
• Must be able to meet deadlines as business needs demand
Qualifications and Education Requirements
• 3 years of Sage experience (preferred)
• 3 years of construction industry experience, underground utility construction (preferred)
• Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field (highly preferred)
• Equivalent related work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (15 pounds)
• Environment: Possible districtwide travel or statewide travel with potential exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration, and chemical and electrical hazards
• Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, sudden shifting priorities, and ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
