Primary Function
This employee is responsible for assisting the Director of Maintenance in carrying out a comprehensive program of maintenance that provides and maintains in an efficient and economical manner the facilities, grounds, equipment, and furnishings of the district so that all students, staff, and the community are assured of clean, safe, attractive, and healthy places in which to learn and work.
Qualifications
- Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school or General Education Certificate (GED)
- Minimum two years’ experience in maintenance, operations, and grounds work
- A minimum of two years of mechanical experience.
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver License.
- Red Cross First Aid Certification.
Performance responsibilities
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, supervisors, administrators, and school community members.
- Must be skilled in the performance of one or more trades.
- Knowledge and skills in building, repairing, and maintaining facility structures.
- Must possess strong computer skills related to emails and the ability to learn online work order systems and basic building management software.
- Good organizational skills
- Is available to school principals, maintenance, and custodial personnel to discuss plans or problems.
- Assists in maintaining all district-owned buildings and grounds and conducts preventive maintenance.
- Assists in maintaining safety standards
- Assists a maintenance program, implemented by the director, for district grounds, including snow plowing, not maintained by custodial staff.
- Assists director in dealing with emergency repairs.
- Assists in recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchases.
- Other responsibilities as directed by the director.
