Description

Pay : $35 / hr.

Purpose of the Role and Scope of Responsibility : Prepares for and teaches automotive collision repair courses and conducts labs as assigned by the department chair of the Automotive Collision Repair department. Hours : 5 : 30 pm -9 : 30 pm a few evenings a week.

Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Teaches assigned theory and lab classes. Plans daily activities for students in theory and lab. Supervises students for both theory and technical project grades.
  • Instructs and evaluates students in a live work setting who are performing general services and repairs on automobiles, to include instruction in shop safety.
  • Maintains a safe worksite and enforces Ranken's safety standards.
  • Teaching duties include refinishing, structural repair, nonstructural repair, mechanical collision repair, and work ethic.
  • Is an active I-CAR instructor for live instruction or hands-on evaluations.
  • Assists in the maintenance of ACR lab and classroom equipment.
  • Assists management with developing curriculum and syllabi, budgeting, scheduling, hiring, and other duties.
  • Participates in college governance, committee work, student advising, etc.
  • Participates in available training to keep current in automotive collision repair technology.
  • Assists in maintaining requirements of industry standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by authorized individual.

Preferred Qualifications :

Knowledge / Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in automotive collision repair technology from a regionally accredited institution and three years of experience in automotive collision repair.
  • Technical faculty not possessing a bachelor's degree in the field shall meet the following criteria :

    A bachelor's degree with the industry certifications to teach the identified technical courses.

    Minimum Qualifications :

    An associate degree in the related field from a regionally accredited institution;

  • Five years of work experience in the industry OR combination of additional work experience in the industry with industry certifications.
  • A certificate in the related field from a regionally accredited institution;
  • Seven years of work experience in the industry OR combination of additional work experience in the industry with industry certifications.
  • Ten years of work experience in the industry OR combination of additional work experience in the industry with industry certifications.
  • I-CAR Platinum Individual in one or more of the PHP roles.
  • Community college or technical school teaching experience preferred.
  • Excellent presentation skills including strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to teach and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines.
  • Computer literate in MS Office.
